U13 Girls Football County Cup Semi Final

On Monday 2nd March the U13 girls football team played Kings in the Hampshire Cup Semi final.

To say it was a tense game would be an understatement! The team went 1-0 down fairly early on after the ball took a nasty bobble on the pitch and headed goal bound. Thornden managed to pull it back just before half time via a goal from Kezia. Thornden started the second half well, but were unlucky to concede free kick on the edge of the box. Kings converted the free kick well to take them to a 2-1 lead. Shortly afterwards Kings scored a third after a goal line scramble. With 10 minutes to go Thornden were 3-1 down. The girls maintained their focus and showed great determination and intensity. Issy managed to score Thornden's second from a corner. Soon after Lucy equalised from a well placed throw in. With two minutes to go Issy found her self in space on the half way line. She took an incredible shot, which lobbed the goal keeper to take Thornden to a 4-3 victory. The match was an outstanding advert for women's football. The talent on display from both sides was superb. Good luck for the final girls!
