Regional Badminton Success

Thornden's U14 girls and U16 boys went to Guildford on Thursday last week as county champions to represent Hampshire schools in the South East Regional Tournament. The standard of badminton on display in both competitions was phenomenal. The U16 boys played really well but just lost each of their 3 group matches by 3 games to 2 in what was the stronger group on the day. The highlight was Sam beating the England No. 3 in his opening singles match.

The U14 girls were very successful in their competition, very narrowly losing to Aylesbury High (the Buckinghamshire champions) 3-2 in the semi-finals. They then beat Guildford High (the Surrey champions) 5-0 in the 3rd / 4th play-off to secure their well deserved bronze medals. All of the girls played well against tough opponents, especially Emma who didn't lose a match all day!

Well done to all who played, they were a credit to the school and to themselves.
