Not only do students at Thornden take full advantage of the range of extracurricular activities on offer, from superb sports clubs and teams to amazing Drama, Dance and Musical performances and clubs, they also achieve wonderful academic outcomes. These strong academic outcomes have been consistent over many years.

The 2023 Year 11 cohort at Thornden achieved excellent GCSE results, displaying fantastic academic progress whilst at Thornden, from their KS2 entry point to their KS4 outcomes.

Progress 8 

 

The overall progress 8 score in for the school in 2023 was 0.5

 

This means that students achieved over half a grade higher in each qualification on average, compared to similar pupils across the country.

This Progress 8 score places Thornden in the top 16% of schools nationally, the "well above average" banding.

English and Maths

In Maths, 95% of students achieved at least a grade 4, with 82% of students gaining a grade 5 or above, where grade 4 is a pass and grade 5 is a good pass at GCSE.

In English, 96% of students also achieved at least a grade 4 with 83% of students gaining at least one grade 5 or above, where grade 4 is a pass and grade 5 is a good pass at GCSE.
